Cyberpunk 2077’s developers didn’t think it was ready for launch in 2020

Cyberpunk 2077 was the hottest game of 2020, and it was shaping up to be a good enough launch when reviews for the PC version began appearing just days before its December 12th release date. But once players got their hands on Cyberpunk 2077, especially the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, the excitement turned to frustration as players encountered bugs, glitches, and more. Jason Schreyer from BloombergThe developers at CD Projekt Red realized that the game was not ready for release in 2020. According to one developer, “they expected the game to be ready in 2022”, based on the progress the team was making in 2019.

Bugs and glitches aside, Cyberpunk 2077’s overall performance and playability on consoles like the mainstream PS4 and Xbox One have been denounced. IGN presented console versions of Cyberpunk 2077, specifically, four in its review. One of the hurdles was that the developers tried to simultaneously develop the engine and the game, with one Cyberpunk developer saying the decision was like “trying to drive a train while placing the tracks in front of you at the same time,” according to Bloomberg.

The console versions of Cyberpunk 2077, not the PC version, were developed by players due to bugs, bugs, and some bugs that break the game and end up crashing the entire game or sometimes the system they’re running on.

Developers seem to have pushed through the challenges by believing they can overcome these hurdles on their own, similar to the infamous “BioWare Magic”, but Cyberpunk 2077 was also developed during periods of intense crisis.

at Tweet-upSchreier claims that despite management promises that crisis will not be required, some managers have indicted employees for working longer hours by stating that other employees will work longer to pick up the slack. Salaries have also been reported to have been low, with one entry-level programmer reportedly earning around $ 700 per month.

In a video message to the public earlier this week, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwiński said that improving the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 is now the studio’s first priority, denting the planned launch of the next-generation PS5 and Xbox Series X version. DLC is free. It’s worth noting that current PS5 and Series X players already play backward compatible versions of Cyberpunk’s PS4 and Xbox One versions.

But during this message, Iwiński claimed that internal testing of CDPR didn’t show many of the bugs and problems that players eventually encountered on consoles. A statement that some say on social media is detrimental to QA testers, whose job is to find and evaluate errors and performance issues.

As for why the initial previews of Cyberpunk 2077 that were shown to the public at events like E3 2019 looked better than the final product, is because the demo was “completely fake,” according to the report. Neither the code nor the gameplay was finalized when the demo was made, and the months I spent working on the fake demo took advantage of developing the full game. The backlash led CDPR to offer an unprecedented full refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077. But while Sony says it will respect refunds, it also announced that it will remove digital copies of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PSN store until its issues are resolved.

Furthermore, CDPR is facing class-action lawsuits for misrepresenting the game to consumers, and the company is under investigation from consumer advocacy groups over allegations that the product does not indicate what has been promised. However, Cyberpunk 2077 sold more than 13 million copies, despite refunds, and was able to fully recover development and marketing costs.
