CNN says it will end its airport network from March 31 – the deadline

CNN It will stop its airport network, which has been providing news feeds to airport watchers across the country.

CNN Head Jeff Sugar He wrote in a note that the network would be discontinued from March 31.

“The sharp drop in airport traffic due to COVID-19, along with all the new ways people are consuming content on their personal devices, has reduced the need for the network,” Zucker wrote.

The network has been in operation for 30 years.

“I’m sure most of us have a story to tell about the airport we were in when we first learned about a major news event,” Zucker wrote. “Be proud that we have shared some amazing stories with many millions of people over the past three decades.”

Oliver Darcy of CNN was the first to spread the word.

The network provided personalized news to nearly 60 airports in the United States. The content was a mix of news, weather and lifestyle programming. The network had a captive audience, albeit an audience that was increasingly consuming video across their personal devices.

It was not immediately clear how many employees would be affected by the closure. CNN She completed her Great Big Story digital project in September.
